I have been in a small private
practice setting located in the Central Connecticut area
since 2000 and joined Counseling Corner for Marriage and
Family Therapy P.C. in Manhattan in 2006. I am a
Connecticut and New York State Licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist who has trained in counseling
individuals, couples and families. I hold a Master of
Family Therapy degree from Southern Connecticut State
University and am a Clinical Member of the American
Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) as
well as a member of the state chapters of that
organization. I have a strong passion for experiential
therapies such as a Gestalt Therapy and Equine
Assisted Psychotherapy!
I have experience working with
individuals, couples and families with anger issues as
well as conducting educational presentations and
facilitated discussions for anger management groups. I
have conducted therapeutic supervised visits integrating
a structural model for parenting.
In addition to private-practice, I
am part-time at Naugatuck Family and Youth Services in
Naugatuck, CT, a non-profit organization providing
individual, couples and family therapy. My interest in
the healing power of horses led me to a new program. I
recently developed a 12 week pilot program for Equine
Assisted Psychotherapy at a private pay, long term
drug and alcohol recovery program located in Durham, CT.
In addition to my clinical interests, I enjoy teaching
students about counseling and psychology. I am currently
an adjunct faculty member at Southern Connecticut State
University with the Psychology Department.
As a marriage and family therapist I offer traditional
psychotherapy with individuals, couples and families. I
use a structural approach to work with the entire family
system in order to provide awareness and change. I also
offer a 10-week anger management and conflict resolution
program for individuals and couples.
At times, I may use energy therapies as an adjunct to
talk therapy. It has been my experience that talk
therapy can be enhanced with energy therapies! Energy
therapies help support and heal an individual while
moving through an impasse. In turn, this allows a deeper
level of healing to take place. Although traditional
psychotherapy is very helpful, I have found that the
energy system often benefits from an integrated
approach. I have studied two of the oldest traditional
eastern energy therapies. As a result of my studies, I
am a Reiki Master Teacher registered with the
International Association of Reiki Professionals. In
addition, I am a Registered
Jin Shin Do®
Bodymind Acupressure® Practitioner. I received my
Certification for Hypnotherapy through the Hypnodine
Foundation recognized by the Hypnosis International
Board of Registration.
My most recent accomplishment is the recertification of
Level I Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through EAGALA. I
am a registered member of their organization and will
continue participating in annual trainings. I offer
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions at a local
stable in Connecticut.
My hobbies are included in my lifestyle. This is
reflected by my studies with
Bikram Yoga Studio
in Glastonbury, my association with
Central Connecticut Tai Chi Ch’uan and my membership
for over a decade as a Registered Black Belt with the
World Tang Soo
Do Association. My leisure time is mostly spent with
my horse Rocky and studying Shambhala Meditation. My
latest interest is studying and practicing Kado: The
Path of Flowers at the
Shambhala Meditation
Center of New York.
